Kari Sam Wuhrer was born April 28, 1968 is an American singer and actress. She began her acting career when she was a teenager. Her most well-known role is for playing Maggie Beckett on the TV show Sliders, as well as in the role of the character of Sheriff Samantha Parker, in the thriller-comedy movie Eight Legged Freaks. Wuhrer was born in Brookfield Connecticut as the daughter of Karin Noble, who worked as a payroll clerk, as well as German American Andrew Wuhrer. She is the mother of three siblings and brothers. She was a teenage singer performing in clubs and hid from the family in order to do so. After studying acting at the Wooster School from 13 years old she was a drama student at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in Marymount Manhattan College and Columbia University.
